These images and video show the results of Russian missile strikes on apartment blocks in Zaporizhzhia city overnight on Thursday (06October2022). One death has been reported.
"The enemy fired missiles at residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia, destroying them significantly. Casualties have been reported," Oleksandr Starukh, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, posted on Telegram.
The overnight bombardment consisted of seven missiles, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Starukh had initially said two women had died, but revised the death toll down after it emerged a victim had survived.
One attack hit residential apartment blocks as people slept, Zaporizhzhia City Council Secretary Anatoliy Kurtiev said. Photos posted on social media by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine showed the apartments flattened.
Zaporizhzhia is the largest city in southern Ukrainian region of the same name - which was claimed by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin last week when he announced the illegal annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. However, Kremlin forces only have partial control of the lands it claims to have annexed, with just over 70% of the Zaporizhzhia region under occupation, and Russian forces losing ground in Lansk, Donetsk, and Kherson.

KIEV (ITALPRESS) – Le forze russe hanno occupato le abitazioni nella regione di Kherson, nell’Ucraina meridionale, come riporta Ukrainska Pravda. Intanto sono state ripristinate le forniture di acqua e di energia elettrica a Kiev dopo gli attacchi missilistici russi. Lo riferisce sui social il sindaco Vitaly Klitschko: “Le forniture di acqua ed elettricità alle case dei residenti di Kiev sono state completamente ripristinate”. -foto agenziafotogramma.it- (ITALPRESS).
