Il tennista torinese, numero 58 Atp e decima forza del tabellone, ha battuto 6-4 6-1 il 22enne svizzero Dominic Stricker conquistando gli ottavi, ma avanza già ai quarti a causa del ritiro del suo prossimo avversario, il cinese Juncheng Shang. Si ferma, invece, Luciano Darderi, numero 38 del mondo, quinto favorito del seeding, battuto in due set dal belga David Goffin, numero 90 Atp, con il punteggio di 6-2 6-4.
