Tunis - The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox virus (Mpox) an international public health emergency on August 14,2024. for the second time in two years, following the outbreak of the epidemic from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighboring countries. انضمت مالطا إلى الدول الأوروبية الأخرى في تقديم المساعدة للدول الأفريقية في التصدي لوباء الجدري.
وتنص مبادرة فريق أوروبا، بقيادة المديرية العامة للتأهب والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ الصحية، على قيام الدول الأوروبية بالتبرع باللقاحات وتعبئة الموارد للمساعدة في إبطاء المرض.
وقالت حكومة مالطا إن مالطا ستتبرع، إلى جانب الدول الأوروبية، بنحو نصف مليون لقاح.
ووصل لوران موشيل، رئيس الهيئة الأوروبية للتأهب والاستجابة للطوارئ الصحية، إلى مدينة كينشاسا بالكونغو لتسليم الشحنة الأولى من لقاحات الجدري.
